Hair Color Extending Tip #132: Batiste Dry Shampoo

I really want my red hair to stay as red as possible for as long as possible. I'm already using a really gentle shampoo (when I'm not on a Wen kick) and still rinsing my hair with salt (which really seems to help).

Yet like the original Goldilocks*, who is just never satisfied with what she has, I want my hair to stay redder, longer. If I want my hair to feel clean, I need to wash it every day. I know that isn't helping. I've tried different dry shampoos, with different levels of success. But mainly, I hate the smell of dry shampoos. Especially the ones that smell "nutty". For awhile, it didn't bug me, then one day I woke up and hated it.

So now, I am trying to wash my hair every other day - even every third day - if it's over a weekend. I've been extending my unwashed-wear-time by using Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush.

It's a floral scented (which although, slightly strong, I dig) dry shampoo that sprays into your hair like every other dry shampoo. I apply it to the underside of my hair, and then carefully zoouge my roots to erase the white, tell-tale signs of dry shampoo. So far, it's working for me, without making my hair feel dirty.

I'm hopeful that fewer washes mean longer color retention. So far, so good. Oh, the best part? Batiste is available for less than $8 at Ulta.

*How is it humanly possible I never noticed that connection before? I am completely impatient and always looking for something better. Seriously. I wonder how I function sometimes, when I see only the details and miss the obvious.
