Made With Flowers Instead of Talc: Zuii Organic Cosmetics

(Blush, lipstick and foundation from Zuii Organics)

Zuii Organic is an Australian-based cosmetics line that is one of the only companies to be able to boast the fact that their entire line is certified 95% USDA Certified Organic. According to Zuii (and my research shows the same), they are currently the only line to obtain such a high rating across the board on all of their products.

So other than being Australian and USDA Certified Organic, what makes them different? Everything! First of all, this woman-owned line is the product of years of research looking for the best ways to deliver high quality pigments with a beautiful finish, without harming the environment or using any of the following ingredients:

    • No Synthetics
    • No Petrochemicals
    • No Parabens
    • No Talc
    • No Genetically Modified Ingredients
    • No Preservatives
Next, Zuii Organic developed a way to use petals from roses, jasmine and chamomile to create a luminous, radiant base, instead of talc. For those with sensitivities to talc, this is exciting news!

The end result are lovely colors that look naturally beautiful on the skin. While I haven't tried their shadows per se, if you are looking for loud, bright pigments, you probably aren't going to find them here. However, if you are looking for an organic and green way to wear a wide variety of beautifully natural colors, this line may be for you.

I was able to get my hands on a gorgeous light peach blush. I've been wearing it everywhere since the day it arrived. All of the other blushes I try just aren't as perfectly pretty as this peach.

The color is so soft it's almost undetectable, but is easily buildable.

This color makes my cheek look lit from within, despite not having a huge color payoff.

The color is faint, but so, so pretty. The powder itself is almost creamy and looks very, very natural.

I also tested their pressed powder foundation. Technically, my coworker Jessie tested it for me, as I am very pale and the color I received was better suited for her skin tone. She tested the Almond color and found the coverage to be medium, with a smooth and radiant finish. Her skin looked amazing, so much so that she decided to save it for special occasions only.

What I am really loving however, is their  lipstick formula. I tried a very bright and on-trend red, Coral Red, and was blown away by how creamy and hydrating it was, without fading, smudging or feeling like it could potentially get messy (which is how reds usually make me feel). This color stayed put almost over night, which is far better results than I got from Gwen's L'Oreal color. I loved this color so much, I built my red carpet look for the Independent Spirit Awards around this lippie and only reapplied it once in a six hour time period. It stayed camera ready for hours on end.

You should know that all prices on their website are in AUD and at the time I am writing this, the conversion is almost, but not quite, one to one. This is definitely a green luxury line that delivers beautiful powders and creamy lipsticks. If you've tried this line, please let me know what you think!
