Halfway-There Hair Help from Headbands

By Anne Housemann, of Beauty Xpose

Poor Kelly is in one of those horrific in-between hair "moments" that anyone who's tried to grow out really short hair is sure to identify with (myself included). She's already taken the first step toward feeling like she has a fresh mane by getting a gorgeous color makeover (how beautiful is she?!), so now, it's all about adding accessories to help stave off the "Oh-my-gosh-I-really-need-to-cut-my-shapeless-hair-NOW" feelings that come with the territory. Luckily, headbands never go out of style. Yes, headbands. And no, you don't need to run away thinking that if you're over the age of 25 you'll end up looking like a desperate cougar who can't give up her youth. It's all about selecting the right headbands to be age appropriate. For Kelly (and anyone else growing out really short hair), the key is to keep the headband "bling" closer to her head, so she can still wear bands with detailing, but just so long as they lay flat.

Here are some great headband choices to consider, no matter what length hair you have!

    1. This color looks amazing with a warm-colored hairdo:

    2. A pretty beaded band will help hold back growing-out bangs, and will also add a little spice to any outfit, since the color of the headband is so neutral:

    3. A faceted metal headband gives you tough-chick-meets-demure-damsel with the lavender band:

    4. A wider band with side detail can give you a vintage glam look (great with black cat-eye liner and a slight hair poof behind the headband):

    5. Or go modern, yet chic, with a neutral-colored headband with clustered jewels on one side:
