First Look: Dior Addict Lipstick + Swatches

I wanted to share these beautiful lipsticks with you as soon as I got my hands on them and here's why:

Dior Addict Lipsticks contain less wax than classic lippies. The color is suspended in a gel and slightly transparent, while still making your pout gorgeously colorful. These colors are shiny, hydrating and plump fine lines to make your lips look luscious.

I personally only own a few Dior Lipsticks. They always seem like a treat for me; I reserve them for special occasions. Sometimes to celebrate something especially fantastic, I'll carry only one Dior Lipstick in my purse, instead of the usual clutter of twenty plus lipsticks and glosses. The Lipsticks themselves are beautiful and wearing them can sometimes make my inner Kate Moss come to the surface. Here is a look at six of the colors.

Dior Vernis Gris City

Dior recently launched Gris City as part of their Dior Vernis Collection. These polishes are named after the three cities that embody fashion and luxury; Paris, London and New York.


(Gris Montaigne, Bond Street, NY 57th)


Gris Montaigne is reminiscent of the iconic House of Dior. It's a stunning opaque gray with the slightest touch of blue. It is my favorite in the line.

Bond Street is a dark gray infused with a deep blue, inspired by London fog. This color is more posh than a traditional navy; it's complicated and luxe.

NY 57th is the address of Dior's boutique in NYC. This metallic gray reminds me of freshly cleaned pavement on the streets of New York, when the light hits in that just-so way that makes New York seem magical.

I'm new to Dior polish so for those of you also new to the line, the brush shape is slightly different from most polishes. Instead of being straight across or full and rounded, the brush is slightly rounded and flatter than most. I am also not usually good at painting my nails and this brush shape makes it slightly easier for me.

I am loving the colors for the end of winter! For whatever it's worth to you, I've had the best success using CND Stickey as as base coat with these polishes. Normally, I use Seche, but Seche and Dior didn't play nice on my fingers and my polish chipped while I slept (no lie!). Since changing the base coat, I've had nothing but gorgeous nails for days! These retail for $21 each on Dior's website and in select boutiques.

From the Files of Captain Obvious: Your Neck and Face Perfecters

Here is a quick tip I discovered this morning while sitting in traffic, harshly judging the foundation match between my face and neck, like I do every morning. I love how my foundation looks when I wear my face perfecter (Mally, Dior, Jouer are my favorites), however, it changes the way light reflects and blurs imperfections. That's great. Except it for one thing.

It makes my daily neck/foundation judgment session really, really rough. My face looks like it has a Barbara Walters style camera lens on it and my neck looks like a plucked chicken. Then, I got the brilliantly obvious idea to apply the Face Perfecter (in this case, Dior) to my unmade up neck. I was SHOCKED at the difference it made. I swear my neck looked years younger, fresher and more supple.


(It didn't make me look exactly like this, but similar in that I looked more like this than the chicken photo above.)


I know this is totally obvious (and embarrassing to share as I should know better), but if you are over the age of 30 and don't want to wear makeup on your neck because it will get all over your clothes (and is generally a pain), try using a face perfecter on your naked neck. You're welcome. :-)

Dior Diorskin Crystal Nude Natural Matte Skin Perfecter

This falls into the category of things I forgot to tell you about (sorry for holding out on you!). I picked this up during the first Friends and Family Sale at Sephora. I use it every day. And every day I fall more and more in love with Diorskin Crystal Nude Natural Matte Skin Perfecter.

This is another skin-perfecting anti-powder face finisher, like the Mally, Jouer or Benefit ones I have mentioned in the past. This light, silicon-based product stops excess shine for a gorgeous, matte finish. I apply this after my foundation, instead of a powder. However, there are some days when I wear it solo, for a poreless punim, with no other makeup.

This instantly blurs fine lines, pores and other imperfections and makes your skin look dramatically better after application.

I super love this. It's seriously amazing.

Two Beauty Bloggers Enter a Mall...and Find the New "Red" for Redheads

Anne Houseman of Beauty Xpose and I went shopping two weekends ago. Our mission? To to find Anne a new foundation, find me a longer fall coat and check out some lip color for fall. We successfully completed our mission and found a few great things along the way.

Anne covered her search for foundation here. Check it out to see what worked for her. For me? I settled on two winter foundations. Bobbi Brown Luminizing Foundation and Dior Airflash. I am not 100% happy with either, so I am up for suggestions!

Then it was off to find me a Fall/Winter Coat that wasn't too heavy or too light, that came past my tuckus and was under $100. We hit the sales at Macy's and found bupkis. I'm still giggling at the fact that I said, with disgust, "I'm not finding anything. I'm too buxom." (I totally am.) But what Anne heard was, "I'm not finding anything. I'm too awesome." I guess it proves the point that if two bloggers are staring at the same thing, chances are opinions will differ. :-) Either way, Macy's was a bust. (Insert rim shot, please.)

Later that day, we made it to Burlington Coat Factory, which is where the world stores its coats for awesome/buxom ladies. After pointing out to Anne the things I avoid in coats (No fake fur, could be dog. No leather after watching an aerial hunting video. Bright colors scare me. Same with patterns. "I'm quirky" was the polite way Anne put it, I believe), we were off, looking for a dark coat made of something wool-like. After combing the racks of coats that fit my exact description, we found a Dereon coat that looked amazing.

While I am not one to jump on celebrity clothing lines (this one is Beyonce's), this coat looked amazing, came with a belt a mile long and was $89.99. Sold! (A serious bargain shopper would score this on Overstock for under $70, but I was happy to find something that looked like it was made for my figure!)

Back to makeup. The other goal of mine that day was to find a new fall lip color. It's hard for me to find something "different" from what I have. If you included all of the old MAC colors that I took out of plastics and put in palettes, I have hundreds of them.

We were at MAC looking at the new long-wearing foundation (fail!) and Anne found a really bright color I would never have picked up. Knowing my love of all things peach, Anne selected Crosswires, a color that she saw as peachy, which I saw as weird old lady too pink/coral.

Always up for a laugh, I tried it on, assuming she was crazy-pants. Then people passing by started complimenting me.


Next, the makeup artist added Passing Fancy, one of the Dazzleglass Cremes in the holiday A Tartan Tale collection. Then she and Anne stood back, sizing me up.

"It's the new red for red heads.", Anne said.

"What? This color? Really? It's so loud." I said, looking in the small hand mirror.

"Will you trust me? It's perfect," she replied.

And my new favorite fall lip color was born. When I looked it other light, in better mirrors, it really was a whole new red for red heads. I'm not sure too many people can carry off this color. But fair-skinned red heads should check this out, stat, before the limited edition lip gloss is gone.

Sephora by OPI nail polish comes in tons of gorgeous, long-wearing colors. The three I am planning on picking up are Metro Chic, Don't Go There and Absinthe Makes the Heart. The first two are recommendations from Jordan, a Karma Dogs volunteer, who always looks great. I especially covet the Metro Chic color she had on at a recent Karma Dogs event!



Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen is an amazing eye concealer for me. I can't suggest that everyone else run out and get this unless you look like me - pale with slight dark circles. For me, it just brightens up my under eye area. This isn't going to conceal much, but it makes the area under my eyes look hydrated, bright and refreshed.

Buxom Babes About Town is a lip stick and lip polish collection from Bare Escentuals. I love these glosses and like the lip sticks. The best part is that broken up, these will make fantastic stocking stuffers. I may have to get one for me and one to give out.

Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Hair Mask is a very intensive deep conditioner for dry hair. My hair has recently finished it's month long Phyto-reconstruction (details to come) and I can't live without this conditioner. My hair is smoother, shinier and healthier than it has been in ages thanks to my intensive phyto plan. This conditioner is a huge part of that. It's pricey, but it's worth it.

Stila Holiday Smudge Pot Collection contains four mini pots of delicious, long wearing, vibrant color. I recently picked this up from Stila and love it so much, I am getting another to break up into mini-gifts for friends. Plus, this kit comes with kitten, which is a glorious shiny golden beige that has been recently added to my "must have at all times" collection. I love creating an eye look using whatever colored eye shadow fits my mood and patting a tiny touch of kitten on top of the eye shadow. It smokes it out, adds a little sheen and loads of glam to any eye look.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate is an exfoliator that several of my coworkers swear by. This pricey exfoliant leaves their skin looking amazing and I am, quite honestly, jealous. This exfoliator is not for the weak. You start out by only leaving it on the skin for SECONDS. I don't think beauty should hurt, but I am ok with tingling for better looking skin.
