Mally 24/7 Brow Express Bulletproof Brow System

As a ginger, I am really judgmental when it comes to my brows. Very few people make a real red that works for my brows and people who say they do are usually lying. So when Mally sent me her Express Bulletproof Brow System, I was leary.

According to Mally, the color she sent me, Taupe, works for those with gray, blonde or red hair. That seems like a wide spectrum to me, but I figured I would give it a whirl.

This Brow system comes with a creamy brow pencil and Mally's signature brow powder in the cap of the pencil. And because it's bulletproof, you can even swim in it. While I haven't tried swimming in it for obvious reasons,  I have tried exercising and misting my face with water and my brows didn't budge. And don't tell, but I've even slept in it and it didn't move.

But how do you get it to work for blondes and redheads? The amount of pressure you use will change the type of color you'll get. A lighter touch will yield a better color for blondes and a heavier touch will give you more color for a redhead. Not a blonde or ginge? They have two other colors available, Medium Brown and Sable, for ladies (or men) with darker hair.

(Swatches of Taupe, including the powder, right.)

This is a simple way to frame your face without worrying your brows will go MIA half way through the day.

After all, nobody wants "floaty balls." (Which is what Mally called unframed brows on the Q recently!)

Tried it? Tell me all about it!

Mally Evercolor Long-Wear Shadow Stick Duos + Swatches

We all know Mally Roncal is the Queen of makeup that doesn't move, slide or budge. Her Evercolor Long-Wear Shadow Sticks are some of the longest wearing shadows I have tried. These things don't come off until you take them off. I'm convinced you could make it through a weekend with one application of these shadows (but we all know you need to wash your face before going to bed at night!).

The Shadow Sticks not only stay where you place them (you do have about 45 seconds of blending/dry down time), but I swear they also make your eyes look firmer and more youthful. Something about these shadows makes your lids feel tighter. It's not so tight it's a problem, but you can definitely feel the eye lids shrinking slightly after this has been applied. If "loose" eyelids are an issue for you, I would definitely give these a try!

These sticks come in duos, for a perfect look that takes seconds to apply. They are currently available in the following color pairs:

    Starlet: Dusk & Platinum

(I only have Dusk to share. I don't have Platinum.)

(Dusk is one of those colors that looks different every time I wear it. Some days, it goes totally purple and other days, it is more of a tawny pinkish gold. Both of the above photos are the same color, just in different light.)

Foxy: Rosy Taupe & Saddle Shimmer

    Showstopper: Plum & Champagne

These are definitely some of my favorite shadow sticks, period. Love them!

(Wearing Plum and Champagne in cooler lighting.)

Provided for review, with the exception of Dusk, which I bought. Mally doesn't test on animals.

Mally Ginormous Lash is Not for the Faint of Heart

I am new to longer lashes, thanks to Revitalash. I've gone from stubby and invisble to very long and slightly lush. That said, I am constantly on the hunt to make the most of my new found lash loves.

Mally's Volumizing Mascara does a fantastic job. It gives you everything you need in a coat or two. It's almost perfection.

But if that isn't enough and you need more wow, more bang and more glam, then Ginormous Lash might be for you. To put it bluntly (sorry, Mama), this mascara will give you lashes you'll need a weed wacker to to groom.

The brush is thick and fluffy with wide spaces between chunks of bristles. This isn't mascara that you can swipe and go and be gorgois. This mascara is for those special ladies who want to bring the oomph. It is going to take a little practice.

     (My lashes with no mascara.)

Here is what I did. I applied one coat of Ginormous Lash. I then combed it out with a METAL lash comb. When I did this, there was some flaking that needed to be brushed away. Remember, this mascara out of the tube gives you lashes that need to be weed wacked. After that coat dried (more time than you would usually allow), I applied a second coat. Then I combed that out. A few flakes fell off after I combed  them the second time. I allowed them to fully dry (for a minute or two), before touching them or doing anything else.

(My lashes are amazing! In this pic, I am wearing Girnormous Lash,  Apricot Delish Long-Wear Lip System, Pink Satin Blush System, Foxy Shadow Stick Duo, & Brown Liner.)

My mascara wore perfectly, with curl, thickness and length for more than 12 hours. I took it off with my facial cleanser and water. I didn't have any flaking throughout the day. My lashes were rock solid and dramatic enough to have people stop me in elevators to ask if they were real.

The results are amazing. But it's not a one-coat-and-done mascara. If that is what you want, stick with the Volumizing Mascara. If you are willing to spend about 3-5 minutes on your mascara for lashes that wow, then give Ginormous Lash a try.

Mally Beauty "Don't Call It A Powder" Poreless Perfection Skin Finisher

I picked up Mally's recent TSV with some birthday money (thanks, Aunt Susie and Uncle Bob!). The collection was just too good to pass up. One of the products I was really interested in trying was the Poreless Perfection Skin Finisher (don't call it a powder!).

This version of a Skin Finisher is basically a tinted version of a high definition powder. It's so finely milled that it almost feels like you are touching air. It's very light, stops oil in its tracks and gives the skin a pretty, slightly brightened finish. While I prefer Mally's Poreless Face Defender, you'll get similar results with this Face Finishing anti-powder. In fact, my oily-skinned friends may actually prefer this formula over the Poreless Face Defender. This also comes with a small buki, great for applying this feather weight product.

If you've seen these kind of powders in stores before and shied away from them because they were bright white and made you look chalky, this is something you should check out. Some of the popular HD powders make even me look too light. I find that this looks much more natural.

(Pre Face Finisher - me at the end of the day)

    (After the Face Finisher)

I did find that I had to be careful not to apply too much of the not-powder, or it sometimes shows up in my larger pores around my nose. The tint that's been added to the powder (sorry Mally!) does add a little coverage, but it's not going to change the overall look of your foundation, provided you've selected the correct color.

(Wearing the Face Finisher - when blended it doesn't show up in pores or fine lines)

However, if you started with a primer that sets up your face for perfection, this can give you a bit of coverage to get you through a Saturday afternoon.

It's available in four skin-forgiving shades ranging from fair/light to rich. It's available in the lovely Share the Love Kit or on its own (although for a little more, go for the kit. It's gorgeous!)

Mally does not test on animals. I bought this. Photos by me.

This is a 55 SPF, with a radiant look and creamy feel. It doesn't go on white and gloppy, but more like a rich treatment. Since you're already protecting yourself from future damage, let the antioxidants in the Extreme Defense keep free radicals at bay while helping to heal damaged, aging skin. Mally Long-Wear Illuminating Blush System with Brush

I am bad at cheeks. There. I said it. Maybe it's because my face is fuller than I would like, or maybe it's because I never get the placement quite right. Or maybe it's because I talk on a cell phone a lot, which rubs on my cheek. Either way, by noon, my blush is always gone, so it doesn't really matter. Primers, powders and potions don't keep my blush on.

I recently picked up Mally's Long Wear Illuminating Blush System and Brush in part of a Mally Beauty TSV (which I LOVE!). My favorite piece of the kit has to be the blush. Here is how the "System" works.

It's available in two colors, Glow Lighter and Glow Deeper. I picked the Glow Lighter. It comes with a cream blush, a powder blush and a double ended brush.

The cream side is a gorgeous pinky-peach color that dries down instantly. Blend it on to the apples of your cheeks with the flat side of the brush.

(Top color is the powder. Middle color is the cream. Bottom color is the combined result.)

Next, using the fluffier side of the brush, apply the powder side to your apples. I also like to blend back towards my ear slightly as well.

The two textures create a lit from within radiance that defines cheek bones and looks amazing. And it lasts all day long, which basically never happens for me.

    (Same look, slightly different light.)

If you use a face perfecter, like Mally's Poreless Face Defender*, you may want to skip putting it over your blush, as I think it makes the color look very muted. Either way, I love it!

I bought this. Mally Beauty doesn't test on animals.
*I've come around to liking the sponge this product comes with. I still think sponges aren't all that sanitary, but it does give a beautiful finish.

From the Files of Captain Obvious: Your Neck and Face Perfecters

Here is a quick tip I discovered this morning while sitting in traffic, harshly judging the foundation match between my face and neck, like I do every morning. I love how my foundation looks when I wear my face perfecter (Mally, Dior, Jouer are my favorites), however, it changes the way light reflects and blurs imperfections. That's great. Except it for one thing.

    (My neck before. Abstractly speaking.)

It makes my daily neck/foundation judgment session really, really rough. My face looks like it has a Barbara Walters style camera lens on it and my neck looks like a plucked chicken. Then, I got the brilliantly obvious idea to apply the Face Perfecter (in this case, Dior) to my unmade up neck. I was SHOCKED at the difference it made. I swear my neck looked years younger, fresher and more supple.

(It didn't make me look exactly like this, but similar in that I looked more like this than the chicken photo above.)

I know this is totally obvious (and embarrassing to share as I should know better), but if you are over the age of 30 and don't want to wear makeup on your neck because it will get all over your clothes (and is generally a pain), try using a face perfecter on your naked neck. You're welcome. :-)

I bought Mally and Dior. Jouer was sent for review.

Cover Girl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner

My Target recently started carrying the newish Liquiline Eye Liner from Cover Girl (I believe it's been available elsewhere for several weeks). Available in six shades, this liner claims to be a liquid liner in a pencil.

(Black Fire, Brown Blaze, Silver Spark, Violet Voltage, Blue Boom, Green Glow)

I picked up the Violet Voltage to see how liquid-like it could actually be.

From the first time you touch this, it is definitely a softer eyeliner pencil than I remember most drug store varieties offering. In fact, it reminds me of Mally Beauty's cult-favorite EverColor Starlight liners. The pencil is very soft and glides on with a full, rich color. It is in fact waterproof and wears for a full eight hours without showing signs of fading.

But does it look like a liquid? Sorta. When I think liquid liner, I think long-wearing, pigment-packed, clean lines.

This liner doesn't provide a clean, sharp-edged, shiny line like a liquid, but it does give the appearance of being a really rich, thick, semi-shiny line, especially when blended with their special smudge tool.

(Smudged line and thicker, non-smudged line)

For less than $8, it is definitely worth picking up. Especially in this humid, sultry weather; it won't melt, move or muss.

I paid for this myself, at Target. It's a good thing I liked it, since Target has such an archaic return policy on cosmetics. Sadly, Cover Girl still tests on animals. Photos by Cover Girl and yours truly.

Benefit The POREfessional

Benefit's The POREfessional is a pre and post primer that is supposed to visibly reduce the size of your pores. It is suggested that you can put this on before your makeup and then again, as a finishing primer in areas where your pores are still visible.

I don't have extremely large pores, but I definitely have larger pores on my cheeks, surrounding my nose. I tried applying this primer, before my makeup, in the middle of my makeup and at the end of my makeup. The end result, no matter when I applied it, was the same. Bupkis.

Texture-wise, a fellow makeup maven with a uber bold asymmetrical hair cut called it, "Smashbox primer with baby powder." I would have to agree. From a color standpoint, I would have to say it was Gouldylox-fleshtoned. Which is great if your name is Gouldylox. However, if you are darker than a vampire with freckles, this might contain enough pigment to give you second thoughts.

Anyway you slice it, for $28, you can do much better. Mally's Poreless Face Defender is an excellent post makeup primer (provided you like silicone). The POREfessional reminded me quite a bit of Perfekt, but the Perfekt does a much better job.

Thoughts? Love it? Hate it? Let me know!

I bought this myself. Benefit does not test on animals.

Primer Wars: Paul & Joe, Cover FX, Mally Beauty, MUFE & Josie Maran
