Hard Candy Eye Def Glittering Eye Shadow

It's Christmas Eve and that puts me in a green mood! This Hard Candy Eye Def Glittering Eye Shadow in Algae gives crazy shine, texture and bling and it's less than $7. It's a fun green - perfect for the holidays or anytime. Think of it as mistletoe for your eyes!




It feels a little thick when it goes on, but wears nicely and doesn't shed. It takes about :60 to dry down completely and it's best if you don't touch it or blink during that time. (Fan your eyes with your hands to speed this up.) Once it dries, it's set. But until then, you'll risk getting glitter on your fingers or on parts of your lid you hadn't expected. It's very sticky until it dries down - at least you won't need a primer to keep the shine and shimmer in place.

If green isn't for you, it's available in a host of other colors, including purple, pink, gold, silver, teal and brown. I found mine at my local Walmart Super Store, but their website looks as if they haven't launched nationally just yet.

Lash Tinsel from Hard Candy

Need a holiday pick me up without spending a ton of cash on the latest super palette? Check out Lash Tinsel by Hard Candy. It's about $6, available in a ton of colors and makes your lashes sparkle.

Other companies are selling a gloss and Lash Tinsel-like product for over $25. This one works just as well and is just as festive as something that would cost you four times as much. What a sweet holiday score!

It's available in 6 colors from Walmart:



Ufo - a teal green
Disco Ball - a sliver

Spellbound - a shiny black
Voodoo- a bright blue

I used a lash primer as always, and then my regular mascara. I topped it all off with the Lash Tinsel. I didn't have any problems with the extra coat wearing my lashes down, although it did make them clump slightly. I also didn't have problems with fall out, but I only wore it out at night, for about 6 hours.

Not content with just a slight sparkle on the lashes, I applied this to my finger and then patted it onto my lids. I then used a my hairdryer on the cool setting to dry the formula (so it doesn't go everywhere!). The result?

A glitter ball eyelid with no fall out and long lasting twinkle! This isn't for every day, but if you want to sparkle sans fallout, this may be a great, cost effective solution!

Hard Candy Visibly Wet Shockingly Glossy Lip Pencil

I was recently checking out some offerings from Hard Candy and I couldn't resist picking up something called Visibly Wet Shockingly Glossy Lip Pencil. I chose the Centerfold color, which is a really nude taupe.

I had been hankering to pick up a pinky nude Lancome lipstick, but couldn't win the wrestling match between my lustful side and my "a $29 lipstick?" side. I was about to head back to Sephora to pick up the Lancome (it gets embarrassing going there so many times each week), when I spied this beauty.

This pencil had to have been around $6 and is definitely somewhere between a lip stick and a lip gloss. It is hydrating, shiny and lasts the same amount of time a lip gloss does. It's available in fifteen shades, from nude to red to pink. I am a tough judge of drug store makeup - probably because you can't test it first - and I would definitely go back for more of this nifty lipstick/lipgloss hybrid.

Hard Candy Plexi Glass Lips and 1000's of Lashes

Hard Candy is one of those lines I always mean to check in on and often forget about. I am a Target girl, so I don't run into the line often as it is a Walmart exclusive. But a few weeks ago I found myself in the aisles, checking out the offerings from Hard Candy.



I think I audibly squealed with glee when I saw the multi-colored fiber mascaras. 1,000 Lashes - Fiberized Lash Weave Mascara comes in loads of colors, including teal, indigo and brown. I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to my beloved Urban Decay Lash Primer and haven't found anything for under $15. But these were less than $6 and available in colors! I picked up the brown (new/un-consumer-tested packages weren't available in the colors I coveted).

I couldn't believe how well it worked! My stubby lashes were extended! It also worked well under my current fave mascara as a primer, adding lots of length. My lashes hit my glasses! It didn't add a lot of thickness or volume on its own, but I was looking for length, not width. Love it!

I also picked up two lip glosses in the Plexi Gloss collection, an Orgasm-like sheer peach and a sheer apple red. This gloss is thick, like adding a layer of shiny wrap to your lips. It doesn't feel natural on the lips, but feels like coated, full, texture-less super shiny lips. (Think those dripping with gloss, super shiny magazine perfect lips.)


The color is more shiny than pigmented, but the hydrating feeling lasts and lasts, while the color is playful. Add a liner to these and you have a long wearing, very shiny lip color. I especially like the apple red - it's a great way to ease into the darker colors showing up everywhere this season.

Hard Candy : Spring Haul

Last year, Walmart brought back Hard Candy, arguably the most innovative product line on the cosmetics shelves of their stores. While I don't know that their formulas are more innovative than say, Cover Girl, their products have that extra oomph. They come in packaging that you can't walk away from in colors that cover the rainbow. The edgy looks of the products stop me in my tracks every time I check out the goods at Walmart.

This spring, there are a few new goodies on the shelves that have piqued my interest.

First is Hot Smudge, a cream shadow and liner combo with a great liner brush and smudger. If brown and purple aren't what you are looking for, it's available in 6 different color duos.

Next is an eyeliner that allegedly doubles as a hair chopstick. My hair isn't long enough to test this theory, but I have no doubt my co-worker, J-Diz, can make it work. Take Me Out Molten Metal Eyeliners come in 10 colors. I am loving this funky purple in Luxe.






Finally, check out this compact for Moon Glow, a skin illuminizer. How adorable is this? I love the little sponge that comes with it and the mirror on the inside. It's too cute!

Hard Candy Returns To Walmart

Hard Candy has been around for the last 10 years and is known for their incredibly cute packaging and pop culture inspired products. Next week, they're back and launching a new Hard Candy line that will be sold at Walmart, bringing their signature adorable-ness and on-trend products to Walmart shoppers everywhere.

This line is LARGE - with everything from lip stains to bronzers, nail polish to pre-shadowed eye appliques. I was able to get an early look at a few of the goods that will launch next week. I haven't really tried them out yet, but I can't wait to dive in to this super cute, affordable beauty!

Intensifeye High Eye Drama in Moody is a smooth and creamy eyeshadow in a very bright, but light blue.



Kal-eye-descope Baked Eyeshadow Duos is a baked shadow that can be used wet or dry. Shown above in Blind Date.


Lip Tattoo is a combo lip stain and breath freshening gloss in one. Shown above in Sangria.



Finally, So Baked, a dewy, yet matte bronzer gives you a sun kissed look without the sun. Shown above in Tiki.

UPDATE! Now that a few days have passed, I have had a chance to test out a few of these Hard Candy items. I like the bronzer- it gives you a little bit of color, which looks natural, without looking shiny.

I also tried the eye shadow. I only tried the white side, since I'm not a teen, and it is a very dry shadow. It takes a bit of layering to get the pigment to show up, but when it did, it left a very sheer, light trace of shimmer. It surprised me by staying put all day.

Finally, I tested the Lip Tattoo. This is a very wet stain, which is a little tricky to put on with a sponge applicator. It took a bit of time to dry and once it did, I applied the gloss. It was actually quite pretty. This stain is not like other stains and due to the light color I tried and it came off in a much shorter time than most darker lip stains.
